Moana Diving Liveaboard in Komodo National Park from Labuanbajo, Flores | Dive Indonesia
The Moana was constructed between 2003 and 2004 by the famous Buginese ship builders of southern Sulawesi in Indonesia. With a double keeled hull made entirely of ironwood and a main deck built from teak wood, her solid construction gives way to an earthy and relaxing atmosphere once on-board. She may have been built with traditional methods, but the Moana has the comforts and style you expect from a modern vessel.
With 5 cabins all located below deck, the main deck is left open with lots of space for sunbathing, relaxing and enjoying the spectacular views. At the bow is a large cushioned lounge area that can be used as a perfect place for dolphin watching while underway, or while waiting for falling stars when at protected anchorages at night. Situated in the center of the deck, the large table is perfect for meals or for identifying the animals seen on the last dive, while at night the modern ambient lighting from below sets a romantic mood. Further back, behind the wheelhouse and open freshwater shower, you can find the saloon, equipped with a modern entertainment center and comfortable indoor seating. And in the rear of the ship is the diving deck, where your equipment will stay between dives, and where there is a large platform that makes it is easy to access one of the 2 spacious speedboats that will take you to the dive sites, the beaches, or for trekking with the famous Komodo Dragons.
Set for a maximum of 10 divers, or 12 non-diving guests per trip, with a multilingual western cruise director and dive guide on-board, there is plenty of space and personalized attention for everyone in and out of the water. All 5 cabins have en-suite bathrooms with private toilet and showers, individually controlled air-conditioning, washbasins, toiletries, towels, teak wood furniture, and portholes. 2 of the cabins have double beds, 2 cabins offer a double bed with a single bed in bunk-style, and the 1 family suite cabin offers a double bed with 2 single beds in bunk-style.
Moana specializes in 4 to 7 night cruises in Komodo National Park. Leaving from the nearby harbor town of Labuan Bajo where you are only a few hours away from diving in the fantastically rich and pristine waters of this World Heritage Site and Marine Park. Labuan Bajo is only a short flight from Bali, instead of a 3 day cruise like on many other boats. And given that Moana operates in Komodo year round, the crew knows this area better than most, ensuring an unforgettable holiday in the land of the Dragon.
